Supplements - kelp, fish oil?
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum. We have recently taken our puppy Buddy home. He is now 13weeks old. He's getting on really well and is a super smart fella.
We feed him Orijen Puppy approx 1.5cups per day now (3 feeds). Ive just taken this up from 1.2cups per day (3 feeds). I've been considering what to supplement his diet with and wonder if anyone out there can offer advice. I am looking at a fish oil and kelp supplement. Do these work? Any negatives? What about probiotics?
Cheers

Hello and welcome.
Buddy looks like a lovely little fella
I also feed orijen and know it’s one of the upper end kibbles.
Just curious as to what you are looking for with your supplements.
Are you trying to address a particular “issue” ?

Hi and thanks for replying. No, not addressing anything. I just want to give him the best start and nutrients possible.

Re: Supplements - kelp, fish oil?
With the food you are giving him you shouldn't need any supplements. If his coat starts to look a little dry or dandruffy then you could add a little salmon oil - just half a teaspoon per meal at this stage. Once you cut down to 2 meals a day (about 6 months) you can put a teaspoon on each meal.
But your food is good enough at the moment.
