Looking for a breeder of blue staffordshire bull terriers
As the title says I’m looking for a breeder of blues. I’ve been researching for breeders within the USA but haven’t been able to locate a breeder that has blues with regularity. Also it seems staffys produced here in the United States differ looks wise from those from the UK and Australia. Also blues seem much easier to find in the UK so the plan is to fly to England and get a dog with the health and look I desire. I would much rather buy here stateside which is why I’m here. Thank you guys for any help!

Re: Looking for a breeder of blue staffordshire bull terriers
Hello and welcome.
I can't help you with breeders in the US, UK or Australia but know of a few blue specific breeders in France
Please just bear in mind that a way of increasing the number of blue pups in a litter/breeder is to cross 2 blue parents but there is a much bigger risk of multiplying health problems.
They gerenally say to avoid blue pups with both parents blue, better to have one blue and one black. However this usually gives mixed litters of blue and black, black often being harder to sell, so not as financially interesting for certain breeders.

Agreeing with nifty, blues are known for having skin allergies which can be nasty and heartbreaking and costly and can’t imagine it to be a great life for the pup to be in pain if this were to happen to yours are you really set of having a blue considering their common health problems? I know it would break my heart seeing my boy like that.

Re: Looking for a breeder of blue staffordshire bull terriers
Hi & welcome.
May I ask why you particularly want a blue? And do you want a pure blue or a blue brindle?
If it's a pure blue, you'll either have to wait on someone's list (a good breeder, that is) for quite a long time, or choose a breeder who breeds blue to blue with no consideration for the possible health problems (a poor breeder) & is breeding purely because they know blue pup's will sell at inflated prices.
In the UK over half of all new puppy registrations are blue & it's threatening other, more desirable colours/patterns. In one of the early Standards it was actually stated that, all other things considered equal, brindle should be preferred over any other colour. Sadly, brindle are really quite rare now in the UK!
You would also have a problem getting the good breeders to sell pup's for export - they like to stay in touch.
The only breeder I'm aware of in the US who breeds (or used to breed) blues is Yankeestaff. I'm sure there are others, but I don't know them.

Re: Looking for a breeder of blue staffordshire bull terriers
Just one other consideration.
If you plan to export, dog will need to be juvenile at least or almost adult as impossible for pup to meet sanitary requirements. Will reputable breeders hold on to pup for you until it’s old enough to travel when you see the waiting lists for pups that will be gone at 8 weeks old ?
If it’s just health and looks that are the most important factors, maybe consider a rescue dog ? Could be another option unless you need full breed papers

If it was a rescue he wanted, there would be no problem. I think it's a pedigree he's after - a blue pedigree - and so rescue doesn't come in to it.

Not true, there is a blue and white AmStaff with pedigree papers in RSPCA equivalent here so it does happen.

Re: Looking for a breeder of blue staffordshire bull terriers
Thank you all for all of the responses. I was not aware of the health concerns with blues and the potential issues with breeders who may breed for the wrong reasons. Definitely looking for a pedigree so I would have know problem waiting on a list as long as health of the dog is the breeders top priority. I will look into Yankeestaff as well.

Yankeestaff breeders are good in as much as the health and wellbeing of the pup is their first concern. Some don't agree with their breeding methods, but that's a thing for a different thread - their pup's are always healthy, athletic & people friendly.
