I took Lola to the specialist vets yesterday, they looked at her history, examined her ect. She said she definitely thinks is not soft tissue as it’s been going on so long. She reacted to her elbow, not toes. I was given 3 possibilities of what it could be. She ordered a CT scan of both legs upto her shoulder blades. The results are she couldn’t see anything abnormal but was going to get another specialist to look at the scan then phone me with the results if any. She rang while I was in work and had left by the time I got chance to call back but I know it hasn’t shown anything. They took blood to test for a condition that I can’t remember the name of if the scan didn’t tell us anything. My guess is that’s what I’m going to be told tomorrow, that they are gonna send her blood off for testing. This is so frustrating, I just want answers as to why my baby girl goes so lame if she does any kind of exercise, I’m also starting to worry as I know she can’t live her life in pain and she’s been lame more than half her life. I’m so proud of how she’s handaling all this, she’s so accepting and just allowes them to do anything to her, both vet practices have commented on how well behaved she is, I’m just worried that one day she will get fed up and stressed about it all.

Hey, hold your horses !
You've managed a big step in that you're now consulting a specialist.
They have to be sure of the diagnosis given that you’re being referred from your vet who couldn’t find the cause.
Examinations can take time to interpret correctly so another couple of days max could give you all the answers you are looking for.
You’ve already pinpointed the area and ruled out a few possibilities so I’d say you're already making progress Smile

Hope you have a bit more news today, do let us know how it goes

Absolutely, don't panic. It is extremely frustrating, I know, but you have to remain patient and hopeful that they'll find what's going on. And remember, even if they can't find it and can't correct it, long term painkillers are always an option. Not ideal, maybe, but sometimes needs must.

I'll check back for news later.

she has mild changes to her elbows, could be medial coronoid disease. But it’s looking like it’s her sesamoids, she has changes in a few of them on both front feet but one in particular is in 5-6 fragments (should only be 2) She’s going to have steroid injections into the joint and see if that helps, if it doesn’t then they are going to go in and remove them. Now I just have to wait and see if I have to make the 3 hour drive back to Chester or if my vets are able to do them.

She was on painkillers for 5 weeks, unfortunately they don’t help and she’s still as lame.

Sounds like some progress is being made at last. It may, on the onset, seem like things aren't happening as quickly as we would hope but keep the faith and let's keep fingers crossed that this sorts things out Chas.

Sorry, I forgot about the painkillers not working, you did mention that before.

It does sound like you are getting to a possible cause/treatment and, although there may be a way to go, that you are further ahead than before. Fingers crossed the steriods work!
