Off to the vets
Moo's limp has certainly improved but is still not 100%, time to bite the bullet and have booked the vets for 12:15 today, I just hope I can finally get this sorted as I am so bored of lead walks

Re: Off to the vets
I don't know what happened, I think she has just pulled a muscle, but I have rested her for over a week now and it still is there slightly, TBH I doubt the vets will do anything I haven't except charge me £60 for the privilege but I just want her better so we can play again! I'll let you know what they say Xx

Re: Off to the vets
They'll probably give you some anti inflamatories. That'll hopefully get her back on track!
Good luck, let us know how you get on. ><

Re: Off to the vets
Pixee had a slight limp when she had her canine out, but was too stressed out at the vets to let them have a proper look, but I was advised that since she could still put her weight on her leg to rest her up. Which I did. Unfortuntly, nearly two weeks ago we had a game of frisbee and after running after it and having a fall, she stood up holding her bad leg up and out. Needless to say I felt so bad, I had to massage her leg for nearly 10 mins on the spot. Guess what, she was running round again after that, but I took her straight home, and since then she has had short walks and rest, and I am happy to say theres hardly a limp now. Perhaps Moo needs abit more rest?

Re: Off to the vets
Hi, I have just seen this post. My female developed a front right leg limp a couple of months back. Vet couldn't find anything on x-ray. So I decided to physio the leg myself, and I managed to get it right in two weeks. Let us know the outcome at the vet, maybe there are a few things you can do at home. Just hope its not torn cartilage...thats the worst (They call it osteochondritis dessicans). Good luck and let us know

Re: Off to the vets
Just got back, there was a wait at the vets.
So exactly as I suspected, she has to have total rest for a week, can only take her out for toilets and they have prescribed metacam liquid once a day. If its still there next week we have to go back, the only problem is Moo is such an active dog it is going to take about a month to get her back to how she was as she will need to build up her walks again, hey ho, won't be going to the pub today!!
Thanks for all your well wishes ><

Re: Off to the vets
I'm bored already so god knows how she feels, she is just laid in the middle of the floor staring at the door
Any ideas of games to keep her entertained but that won't get her excited?

Re: Off to the vets
Janey, like your Moo, Pixee gets bored so quick, thats why I took her on short walks to save her going round the bend too. No running round at all. I was not suppose to really. Its hard to think of games that wont get Moo excited really. Unless you put threats in her kong? (The real reason I took Pixee on short walks was to stop her getting stiff, like us humans if you sprain something, they say gentle excise and rest, thats what I have been doing, short walks, rest, but more often and it has helped somewhat) The last few days she has been running round riot and her limp has not come back.

Re: Off to the vets
Its her front left, sods law though when we got the vets she wasn't limping, I had to walk her round the car park lol. She is now sulking massively.
Lynn I am lucky as there is a small gardens just over the road so I will take her there, maybe 3/4 times a day for ten mins and tomorrow I am back to work so she won't be able to tug at my heart strings xXx
Thanks Dave I don't know who is sulking more

Maybe you could teach Moo a few pub gamers to keep her occupied and get a few cans in

Re: Off to the vets
You use those gardens Janey, I just started off with 10 mins 3/4 times a day for a few days, then just build up from there. I always felt if you didnt help loose them up they would get stiff and therefore limp more. And with Pixee its her front right leg !
Hey get some wine in and share some by dipping some crisps in for Moo. I only do this with cider for Pixee

Re: Off to the vets
I know it's a pain in more ways than one Janey, but I'm so glad it can be treated with a bit of rest rather than something more invasive.
Hope Moo recovers quickly and you can slowly get out and about again in time for your days off next week.
Hugs to you both ><

Re: Off to the vets
Hi Janey, I've been wondering about your Moo after your last thread; I've just been distracted by own escaping dog problem.
I'm so glad there's nothing serious wrong and that you have some treatment for her. Good luck with keeping her resting and quiet, it'll be hard work. I can only suggest chewies, but I'll bet you've thought of that one already!

Re: Off to the vets
She goes as loony for a chew as anything else, double that with pent up exersize and I have 1 unhappy dog!
Gave her a yummy tea and changed my bed sheets, I always know where to find her then!
Clean sheets? I always know she'll beat me to them

Re: Off to the vets
She just goes daft Caryll! The only thing I can do is make her sleep! I am hoping the recovery won't be as long as said as I have already been doing everything advised, and she is getting big! Vet said she is 23kg and wouldn't like to see anymore weight on her!! And I do like lean (recent convo lol) I don't think of her as fat!!

Yep she'll do that and then just grab one of them and start to throw it around the room, pouncing on it and act like a loony, rolling on her back and leaping around, I can't stop laughing so this isn't gonna help recovery
