My 12 year old lady is unwell!

Hi, I am new to the site and found it while searching about my girls symptoms.
I have 2 staffies 1 girl who is 12 and 1 boy who is nearly 10. Both of them have been with us since 8 weeks old.
My beautiful girl has recently been at the vets for several symptoms and our vet thinks
She may have cushings. Bloodworks and urine tests suggest this. On Wednesday she is having a scan and I think it's a ACHT test? To confirm the cushings. The vet has also called me to say the bloodworks show increased liver enzymes.
This weekend she has had yellow, mucus diaroeah. We are so worried as a family that we are going to lose her.
My boy Stafford is also pushing her around a bit.
Any advice from other owners who have experienced this? I just want to know as much as I can good or bad.

Hi there, New here myself and sadly lost two staffies in the last year.

I am an avid believer in using garlic tablets to help purify the blood and rid mites, ticks , worms etc and can only suggest trying it . It should not affect her in anyway, but may do some good. best wishes for your girl X

a lady i work with had a spaniel with cushings. she was 9 years old when diagnosed, and was on medication for the rest if her life.

unfortunately the treatment, although effective, can have side effects, and the spaniel was pts at age 11 because tge side effects had a bad effect on her quality of life.

Good news - any news about the cushings?

She had the ACTH test and we get the results on fri/Sat.
It is very likely that she does have it though. It is an expensive test to have. The bill today for the scan and ACTH test was £500! I have her insured though. Last week the bill was £160. Been an expensive 9 days!

Vets have spoken with us today and she has come bk as positive for cushings disease

oh, that's a shame.

but many dogs live quite happily on the medication. i'm sure your vet will talk you through it.
