dexter is unwell again :(

hi everyone,
you gonna start to think that i don't know how to look after dexter but he is unwell again ...
a couple of days ago my gf brought home a "cooked ham bone" he demolished it in a few hours and this morning after our morning walk we came back home, i was sat in front of the TV and he started beeing sick. It did happened before so i wasn't too worried until i saw blood .
I called the emergency number for the pdsa and they just told me to put him on a light diet of pasta or rice for the rest of the day. what do you guys think ?
he is now sleeping next to me and shaking . i think the shaking is more to the point that he got a massive fright ( and so did I )
he is not eating at the moment (I even tried to hand-feed him)

We have always avoided the cooked bones, if his condition changes at all phone your vet again to see if you can get him in there.

Try some light meals for a couple of days, boiled rice and chicken or scrambled egg like Kathy I don't give cooked bones best to stay away from them. Pop him the vets if it's gets worse or your worried best to be safe xx

he is now sleeping but his breathing is still not back to normal. i managed to get him to eat a little of bread mixed with wet food. ( he refused pasta and refused rice ) he also seem to be constipated but that could be coming from the stress ... (was the same when he had is epileptic fit)
the pdsa gave me the number of an emergency vet just in case .
I'll keep you updated ! but if any of you got more ideas to make him better i take anything !

Ah well if he ate the whole bone that would cause constipation! Usually causes poop to be white. Poor baby boy keep us updated xx

he is and his breathing is getting better . it's amazing what a couple of sausages from daddy'splate can do !

i had same with nigel at christmas time think blood probably from bit of bone stuck in throat nigel off for cpl days but fine xx

he is all fine now :)gave me a big fright but he is back to his old self again :)I woke up to that this orning

Aw glad he is all back to normal again It could quite possibly have been a bit of sharp bone aggrevating his tummy or throat.

Glad hes well. Never give a dog cooked bones, just not worth the trouble. Raw ones are best.
