1st of all, this is Neeko.
dry food recomendations - New pup, correct food quantity. 6cQ4qTB

Yesterday we got our nearly 9 week old pup. He was/is eating Wainrights dry food, but would like to check the amount that should be given. According to the packet it says up to 5kg 2-6 months 35 - 130g 3-4 times a day. So i weighed out 130g this morning and gave him a 1/4 of it. Thinking about it now it was probs to much, so I would love to hear what amount people recommend at his age.

Thanks J

Welcome to the forum from Flo and me Big Grin

Neeko looks fab Smile it's been a long time since I had a puppy but would say go with what's on the packet generally and then increase or lower the amount by seeing what you think he needs based on size. Obviously he's going to eat almost anything you put down so you'll need to watch his physique and make sure he doesn't pack the pounds on through overeating.

Equally you don't want to under feed, though I doubt you will, so you'll want to be able to feel the ribs but not see them and see a defined waiste.

The food Packaging will offer the standard amount and then just add or subtract as needed as he grows but trust me, he will eat almost everything you put down.

Hello and welcome from us.
Isn't Neeko a real sweetie Love Struck

When Nifty came home at 8 weeks, she was eating 40g of Pro Plan kibble 3 times a day. If she didn't eat everything, I would remove after about half an hour. If she ate all and looked for more, I would increase just a little. Otherwise, exactly as Ian says in terms of monitoring weight.

Hi & welcome.

Neeko's a beauty - where did his name come from?

Re:food. Go by the recommended amount & then use sight & touch to find out if it's too much/not enough. The recommendations are only guidelines, after all.

My partner and eldest decided on the name. It was chosen when the pup was about 4 week old.
