Just Got My Amstaff
Greetings everyone
Kimeran here, from sunny South Africa.
I am the proud owner of an Amstaff that goes by the name of Hades (Pronounced Hay-Dees).
Just got him yesterday, he is 6 weeks old.
It has been a bit tough, he doesn't really want to do anything most of the day. Seems to be missing his mother a lot.
I look forward to watching him grow, and watch him feel like he is part of the family.

Re: Just Got My Amstaff
Hi & Welcome to the Forum from Flo and me
Hades looks fab but is probably away from mum a couple of weeks too early which is why he's a little lost I guess. He will settle, I'm sure and when he's had his jabs etc get him well socialised and he will be a great little fella.

Re: Just Got My Amstaff
Thanks guys.
Yeah I was a bit worried about taking him away from his mother at such a young age, but he seems to be getting a bit more used to us now.
He is lazy as hell though

Re: Just Got My Amstaff
is it hot there at the moment? most amstaffs, even the really young ones, are usually quite lively! I'd take him to the vet, though, because you want to be sure, plus of course he'll need to be wormed.

Young puppies do need a lot of sleep but should be lively & playfully between times

Re: Just Got My Amstaff
Thanks guys
It seems like he has warmed up to me now, and can't stop running around.
The only thing that concerns me, he seems to pee... A LOT!
Sometimes he will pee up to 10 times in 15 mintues.
All small puddles, but still. Is that something to be concerned about? He doesn't drink excessive amounts of water.
Will be taking him to the vet on Saturday, just for a regular check up.

Re: Just Got My Amstaff
That does seem a lot but he is very young, mention it too the vet. Puppies do pee very often, he is possibly doing lots of small bits instead of emptying his bladder fully in one go. If he is drinking well & seems healthy don't worry. I took my new pup for a pee every half hour first few days then every hour unless he was asleep

Re: Just Got My Amstaff
to be honest, at his age that's perfectly normal!
very young pups just can't control their bladders & will go where & when they need to. you'll find it'll change as he gets older.
