off to the vets
We've had a bit of a up and down xmas with Sash,so phoned the vets this morning and was told unless an a emergency i could'nt get to see a vet until Friday , she is so unsettled at night, she has always slept on the bed with me but the last 2 nights just keeps jumping down after about an hour and wont get back on unless i pick her up then jumps back down again and just walks round the bed room,i opened the door for her put she wont go out until i do,she is eating, drinking and going to the loo ok but just does'nt seem with it,so worried about her .

Re: off to the vets
It does sound like there is something amiss, doesn't it? But equally it doesn't sound like she's suffering or in pain so, although Friday seems an age away, hold on, it's not that long. Did you at least manage to book an appointment?

Re: off to the vets
Can't believe you've had to wait till Friday Stella
I wonder it it's an infection of some sort, if she's eating and drinking as well as doing things normally at the other end then it would suggest something of that sort but then again I'm no vet.
Hope it's something of nothing and the vet can give her something to sort her out quickly. They do like to worry us don't they

Re: off to the vets
Really hope she is ok at the vets. Just a random thought but have you changed your bedding or washing powder? Could it be something as simple as she doesn't like the smell in the bed anymore?

Re: off to the vets
Lets hope she has brought it all up now & she will be on the mend they cant resist shredding squeaky toys, luckily Katy rips hers & spits it out. When I 1st took her to meet the vet he said if she is ever sick to check it for debris as they are well known for swallowing

Re: off to the vets
Ah, sounds like you might have figured out the issue Stella, fingers crossed. My Flo doesn't do squeaky toys for obvious reasons but will regularly ingest small bits of rope toy which is akin to grass in the summer coming out the other end
Odd thing though, my Flo is out of sorts today, restless, no breakfast, no dinner (treats are obviously fine) and frequent asks to go outside. I'm guessing she's got an upset tummy & also wondering if Sasha's passed anything on to her

Re: off to the vets
I'm sure Flo will be ok but she's doing the shivers and getting up to go outside very regularly so i suspect it's a tummy thing. Fingers crossed for Sash and all is good tomorrow.

Re: off to the vets
Another unsettled night , so does'nt look like it was the plastic from the toy,be glad to get her to the vets later, she was panting last night so she must have been getting stressed out or in pain

Re: off to the vets
it might be that the plastic has irritated her stomach/intestine linings & maybe she'll just need something to settle it down.
let us know how she gets on.

Re: off to the vets
Well i was't expecting that, after giving her a good going over, asking me some questions i now have a dog with dementia and that has cataracts ,she was so good until he got down to her level and she thought he wanted a kiss and by accident caught him with her tooth and made him bleed ,so he has given her Aktivait to try, takes a couple of weeks to kick in so fingers crossed,we have to leave a light on at night i guess if she has cataracts her sight will be blured so it may well be stressing her out at night as well as the dementia, ohh Sasha .

Re: off to the vets
Fingers and claws crossed the Aktivait helps, it does get good reviews.
I don't know why, but my gut feeling is that a light on at night might not help, surely normal dark would be more reassuring that blurred light? Anything is worth trying, I guess.
It must be horrid for you, watching her distress and not being able to do anything short term to help her.

Re: off to the vets
Doggy Dementia?!?! How do they diagnose that ? The cataracts I guess are fairly obvious. I can understand why you were surprised and at least you have something to work with Stella.
Flo's a lot better today, discovered that she'd been sick outside last night so definitely a poorly tum and she wolfed down her dinner at midnight she was a little slow starting her walk but a trip in the stream chasing squirrels woke her right up and is now munching on a stag bar quiet happily

Re: off to the vets
mia had a bit of a cloudy eye stella tbh i never put a light on in the same room as mia but i always kept a light on in the hall she coped better that way i always spoke in a higher pitched voice as she was going a bit deaf too. don't move any furniture about hen and just let her go to one room at a time i only have a small flat so i basically let mia have the run of the house. i always gave mia reassurance and everyday she gave me kisses after smelling my trouser leg oh if u take photos turn the flash off too. oh stella
