Aromatherapy for Dogs
Does anyone have any thoughts on aromatherapy for dogs? I've been doing a lot of research the last few days and a lot of sites mention Lavender as it can calm dogs and relax them. Just so happens I was in Tesco earlier and they had a Lavender and Chamomile candle and room spray.
I thought it cant hurt and have had a quick spray around the house- Mistys fast asleep on the sofa now but its her bedtime now anyway so I cant give the credit to the spray.
I'm just interested if anyone else has tried any natural calming things like this?

Re: Aromatherapy for Dogs
I know some people who are into aromatherapy and various similar things but I'll confess I've not had any evidence of it myself. But, give it a go and if it works for you, great!

lavendar is used a lot in human calming mixes. i have known it used for dogs, but tiny amounts of lavendar oil on bedding (only 1 or 2 drops at either end of their bed) and maybe another drop rubbed into the chest.
if you rub it into the chest, though, I would watch for any irritation as lavendar oil is very strong. I personally wouldn't use a spray because it can irritate the lungs.
