Feeling shaken
So upset out with a friend and her female dog for a walk earlier, when out of nowhere appears a lady with a black Alsation. I always am very vigilant as to put Vin on lead when other dogs are approaching but before I knew Vin started to run up to the dog which was on lead, and just went straight in!! the lady hadnt the strength to control him as she was quite elderly,,,,,,,,, anyway he pinned Vin down and thank god never punctured the skin but has taken fur out in several places and quite a nasty tooth scrage mark aswell. I have no reason to blame the other dog as he was on lead,,,,,,, I( am just worried about Vinnies behaviour as he has never ever done this before, whether it was because he was with Tilly his female friend whom I think maybe about to come into season or is he just turning nasty? I am mortified and so shaken ,,,,,,, he isnt phased at all though, thanks for reading just needed some opinions xxx

Hi Inez, sorry to hear about you upset, I am sorry to hear about Vinnie and hope he gets better soon, imho, I think as you said he was possibly protecting Tillyand hope it is just an unusual thing and not the start of aggression, hope you are ok, give Vinnie a cuddle from me and Blue and have a wee dram and chill, take care.

Re: Feeling shaken
So sorry to hear this. It's horrible when something negative like this happens. It's good that neither dog was seriously hurt. Really hope you are both ok x

Re: Feeling shaken
Do you have a long training line, Inez? If so, it might be an idea to use it for a short while so you can judge Vin's reactions. I doubt if he's turning nasty for no reason, dogs don't just change and if do there will be sometime behind it. It is possible, though, that he is reacting to something underlying that you're not aware of. He might have a bit of discomfort, he might be picking up on how you're feeling if you've not been well. It could also be that this dog just took him be surprise.
We'll possibly never know but I'd just up your level of caution until you're happy it's nothing more than a blip.

Why !!
Please any help , I have 2 staffs a 4 year old dog and a 2 year old bitch . Recently the Bitch has started bullying my dog . Not letting him on his bed , growling and occasionally going for him , she has also started the occasional growl to us !! we had problems with her when she had her first season and has now been spade she is not due another till Sep /oct . my dog is getting very unsure of her as they were normally best friends he doesn't like confrontation . We have had her from a pup and love her dearly but this behaviour is upsetting us all !! Please any suggestions !! Thanks

Hi Nicishuff,
Do you want to start a new thread with your question? That way we can keep this one for Inez's problem and have a discussion of yours separately so we don't get mixed up. Towards the top of the page under the main banner, far left you should see in red 'new topic'.
And do pop into the introductions section and say hello!

Re: Feeling shaken
Thanks all, yes Liz I have a training lead will use for a while as you said to be sure. I am sure was something that triggered it as he is usually good with most dogs though after an altercation with a couple of husky dogs a few years back is unsure of any dog that resembles the wolf look. As said I am always so vigilant and careful but guess we all make mistakes xx

Re: Feeling shaken
Oh I'm sorry Inez - I can understand how upsetting it would be. The other dog and owner suddenly appeared and caught you all by surprise it could just be that Vinnie's first thought was to keep the dog away from his lady friend and family xx

Re: Feeling shaken
I wouldn't call it a mistake, Inez. From what you said it was one of those things that take us by surprise from time to time. Any dog can do it, it's just gutting when it's ours.
