Bones
Hi all.
I got some raw bones from our local butchers yesterday and gave Frankie one. He loves it and hasn't left it alone since. We went out this morning to do some shopping when we arrived at home he had had diarrhea all over the kitchen floor could this be the bone that has caused the upset stomach?
He usally feeds on dry food and what ever the little one throws from his high chair lol
Regards

Re: Bones
What sort if bone was it?
if it was a marrow bone then yes, it could be the cause. of course it could also be because your dog's stomach isn't used to raw meat/bones.

Re: Bones
I'm not sure what bone it was i just asked for some in the butchers. My partner said this morning that he did a solid white poo in the garden followed by diarrhoea.
I should of mentioned that i use food from tails.com but i ran out before receiving some more so i had to mix it with some of the previous food (taste of the wild)

Re: Bones
The solid white is bone. A lot of bone can bung them up a bit, especially if they're not used to it. It sounds like maybe he got a bit of a backlog after the bone bung, if you see what I mean!
I'm careful what bones I give my guys. They are on raw and get quite a lot of bones. Lamb and veal are the best for them, they don't splinter and aren't too hard. Beef limb bones are hard and can cause problems with teeth. And never give cooked bones as they can splinter.
As with everything, I'd always suggest adding different things gradually. A big hit of something new can often cause upset stomachs.

Re: Bones
The white poo is from the bone and most likely caused a blockage which led to the explosion (isnt that delightful to come home to! ).
Lamb bones tend to be a bit softer, dont give him big bones, & of course always make sure they're raw only. I also give Koda raw chicken drumsticks regularly, he loves them and they cause him no issues.

Re: Bones
Lamb bones are great to start them off with, especially spines, although you ma. Not get them from a lot of butchers, only the ones that cut up the carcasses themselves (some 'butchers' just buy in the ready made joints etc). Morrisons have their own in-store butchers & often sell the bones cheap on the meat counters.
weight bearing bones aren't a good idea as the marrow is very rich (upset stomach) and the bone itself is very strong (could damage teeth).
