Bones Empty Bones

Is it safe to give staffs bones due to there strong jaws? my girlfriend said her staff died from a splinter off a bone getting lodged

I don't feed mine bones but that is a personal choice.

So I gather from here and people that feed raw, bones are fine unless cooked as thats when they splinter, but there are a few bones that aren't suitable, and also always watch them so they don't get into any probs Xx

Raw is fine. They should be kept in the freezer so they will stay fresh. If the bones are cooked they may indeed splinter. Read this link to a previous topic as well.

Spines and ribs are better than marrow bones as sometimes the marrow can be a bit too rich

But always raw, never cooked!

I won't even buy the pet shop bones for that reason.

If you want something just for your dog to gnaw at, though, and you don't want to get raw bones then try a stag bar.

i got one after it was recommened on here, i bought the large one and when it comes its quite small but billy has had it for ages and there is hardly any wear and tear its worth it
