Help please just a quick question
I usually mix tinned food with dried food but the last couple of days my boy wasn't eating it. I knew he was hungry because you could hear his tummy rumbling and I started getting worried so gave him just dried food with a bit of hot water which he also turned his nose up to so thought would try just a tin of food and he just scoffed all that down lol so should I just give him tinned food from now on? maybe he is bored of dried food and just prefers wet food? many thanks

Re: Help please just a quick question
I do the same as you Dan and give dry for breakfast with a half tin and dry for dinner. My girl does get bored with the same dry so we give a mixture of flavours, however, I think they get bored of dry anyway (Think I would too to be honest)
I have started adding a teaspoon of coconut oil to her dinner and she never turns her nose up then

They can get bored, I don't use tinned so if Katy gets bored I mix her dry food with pilchards for a change

Re: Help please just a quick question
As Ian says, i'd probably get bored with dried food too! Lots of good suggestions of ways to spice things up a little I just feed wet food for Bug, she's never missed a meal but she's a little piggy! Though, even she wouldn't eat the dry food that they offered in kennels We feed Wainwrights grain free, she does really well on it

Re: Help please just a quick question
I would imagine just dry food is boring so I feed extras like cooked meat, fish and veggies. The vet has told me to only feed puppy food but feeding the extras is the only way i managed to increase Roccos weight. I feel that I'm feeding him healthily and the vet is happy with his weight now.

there's nothing wrong with giving a small amount of 'extras' such as cooked meat, fish and veg. try to make sure there isn't too much salt in them, though - if you cut the salt levels down it'll be healthier for rocco AND you!!

Re: Help please just a quick question
Hi folks. Is it OK to add sardines to my staffs dinner? He's no interest in his dry food on it's own. Thanks again folks.

Thank you. I meant to say would it be OK to add sardines to every meal for flavour? Thanks again.

I probably wouldn't do that for all his meals to be honest, he would probably get bored with that. I think it might be too much having oily fish every day! Try varying it with scrambled egg or low sodium stock as gravy, I also use 0 fat natural yogurt with Katy

Re: Help please just a quick question
My pup has tails dry and wet mixed has been on this for about 3 months but has just started throwing up after his evening meal for the last 3 days, tried giving him just dry and he won’t eat it. I gave him dry with a bit of grilled chicken and he threw up so tried plain rice with his dry and he threw up! He seems so hungry and just don’t know what to give him or why he has started being sick?

Hi & welcome.
How old is your pup? How many times a day is he fed & does he throw up after every meal, or just one in particular?

Re: Help please just a quick question
So it's always evening? Is he exercised just before or after his meal?
It could just be that he needs to reduce to two meals a day - he might be too full & his body is rejecting the extra food.

Re: Help please just a quick question
I give him tails food which is measured out according to his breed, age and weight, the 3 meals a day are very small portions and he is definitely not full he is always begging for food and barking at the cupboard where it is kept. It’s just strange that after 3 months he is now being sick on an evening? People have told me to feed him plain rice but this makes him sick. Someone else suggested crappie ?
But thank you for you advice

Re: Help please just a quick question
What about exercise? Does he have an evening walk?
Chappie's okay for short term invalid food, but I wouldn't want a dog on it permanently.
It seems strange that it's only evening? What's your routine?

Re: Help please just a quick question
He has breakfast at 7.30 and a run around in the garden around 11 he has a long walk about 1-2 hours and lunch at 12.30 then around 5ish small 15-20 walk and his evening meal at 6.
I was worried he has eaten something he shouldn’t or something in his stomach making him sick, just randomly started on Saturday for no apparent reason I haven’t changed any routine. He is still happy and silly and running around like crazy on his walks so seems happy in himself. Apart from the fact he is constantly barking at me for food.

Re: Help please just a quick question
Okay, if he's eating normally at other times I don't think it's a blockage problem.
It could be that his evening walk is too close to his evening meal.
I'd like to suggest that you split his meals into 2 portions, one morning & one evening, but don't exercise for at least an hour before/after a meal. If he's a lively boy (and it sounds like he is), it could be that he isn't winding down properly between his evening walk and his evening meal.
