quick question
I read on one of our shelter's FB pages the other day that there is an outbreak of Parvo in my area. We have a number of public parks we like to go to and of course Roxy and Vinny are up-to-date with their vaccinations. Is it better to give the parks a miss for a while and rather stick to our little area for now?

Re: quick question
I would be having a really good think about where I took Chiquito if this were the case in our area ... even with the vaccinations all up to date it is scary to think of the what ifs.
It is rare, however there are still some risks for parvo even with fully vaccinated dogs. Most of the danger for them is from coming in contact with the virus (such as eating faeces of an infected dog or being in an environment where there has been an outbreak/infection) rather than from it being brought into their environment.

Re: quick question
You're welcome
We are very lucky here to be in a high vaccination area, so there are very few cases ... there were a lot of problems after the floods went through over the last couple of years though, and it was sad to hear of all the pups/dogs that got very ill with it.

Re: quick question
I wouldn't stress too much over it. If your dog has had his vaccinations then he should be ok. However, just be aware of his general health. If he gets the runs, especially with blood in, then go straight to the vets.
