Operation time
Hi, I've Bella booked in tonight for her pre op with the aim to get her 'sorted' in the next few days. Just wondering what I can expect in the few days after the op. Is the wound big? How long will it take for her to recover? Do I need to keep her separate from my other dogs?
My God, so nervous, like one of my kids going into hospital

Re: Operation time
do u mean spayed ? if so the wound is big but very neatly stitched . its important to give on lead exercise and less jumping and excitement as possible not easy I never gave mia anything to eat after 5pm day before the op , the day of the op u take her down early as your vet will tell you there will be a form to sign regarding the anaesthetic and the risks of the operation. the vet does these ops all the time theres nothing to worry about the only worry will be keeping the dog quiet for 2 weeks to give them a chance to heal . best of luck with the op keep us updated how she gets on

Re: Operation time
She will be fine Laura, when Katy was done oh came with me to lift her in the truck. We got to the truck which is a big 4x4 opened the side door & before we knew it she had jumped in it Bit quiet for a while but next day she wanted to play tug o war, just try & keep her brain occupied & lead walks are a pain but she will be back to normal in no time

Re: Operation time
Oh Laura - all the hugs for you! I felt exactly the same leaving Una. You know Bella will be settling down and getting lots of snuggles and attention from the vet team - bet they think she's the bees knees.
What's your plan for today to keep you busy? x

Re: Operation time
Ach well then, Bella will be getting snuggled and fussed over. Apologies for the unrequested "mother hen" paragraph below!
Make sure you get yourself some food and tea/juice today. I spent the time fretting and fussing and then spent the night watching and caring and ended up worn out - just as Una was getting her bounce back

I was not a smart person - Una ran rings round me inside as we were trying to keep her calm in the following days

Re: Operation time
Una got the better of us and took a zoomie in the back garden on day 3, I was trying to be all calm and stop her and she was all "look at me go! zoom! zoom!"
