I have an 8 year old staff which we have had since he was 14 weeks. Last summer he started drinking lots of water and urinating more than usual. We took him to the vet who diagnosed a urine infection so we had antibiotics. In about September/October last year we noticed he had put on weight and was definitely not as interested in walking, sometimes he would just stop in the middle of the road and look at me as if I was expecting him to do something abnormal. We took him to a different vet to get another point of view as we were concerned about the weight gain and he was peeing blood. Again he had antibiotics, blood tests for diabetes and cushings disease - all has come back negative. We have tried herbal remedies and have been back to the first vet and he has had an ultra sound scan and X-rays. We have not found out what is wrong - he is very lethargic, can eat for England and when he does go out scavenges if given the chance. The last tablets he has had were to open up his airways as the vet said his lung capacity was small. This was in mid February. I am just wondering if anyone has come across similar issues with their pet, and if so what the outcome has been?
Thanks for reading this.

I've moved your thread - bless his heart he's not really a puppy any more Smile

Have you asked for a referral to a specialist centre? In your case I think I would, they have more more experience with difficult cases and have state of the art equipment that local vets can't afford. If you're at all within any distance of Newmarket, I can't recommend this place highly enough:

Was he tested for thyroid disfunction? I would agree that a specialist is the way forward, if possible.
