PIT BULL...

First topic message reminder :

Yesterday I met a chap and his lovely staff.I asked him why he had a muzzle.He told me that 10 dogs including his one were taken from the local area(Hereford) and labelled pit bull type.He told me that his dogs dad is kc reg and his mum is a staffy with no papers.He then told me he was shocked how he was treated and had to pay to get the dog back.He also told me that none of the other owners had challenged the police to get their dogs back.They were put down!

The dog was a lovely staffy who blue with white patches.The dog was 19 inches tall and because of this he was labelled pit bull type.The dog looked just like a normal staffy and was soft as muck.

The police ordered the man to muzzle the dog at all times when in a public place and to be kept on a lead.
They also neutered the dog and tattooed a number on him.

I'm now getting worried that the same might happen to me.Tilly was 19" tall when last measured.Please advise me.

I could not be with out my dog.

Isn't that dog control bill on its way through parliament at the mo.....

Not sure when/if it will pass royal assent, but it looks better then current laws..

It's all based on deed not breed. So there will be NO banned or types, and the onus is on responsible ownership

Yes, but they're still arguing about certain points on it.

I suppose in general it can't be worse than the current law, but there are a couple of things I'm not happy about, such as the fact that if someone 'perceives' your dog to be a threat, or the dog acts in a way that makes a person frightened of harm, then you can be prosecuted! Totally open to abuse, that one!

God help us if the muppets get back the real pit bulls though id rather it be banned then be persicuted myself. The not so nice people out there cant see the dog for what it is and just what its named

i think they will still stick to their cross breeds becasue real pitbull are tall and lean, these wannabe want tall & huge and call it pit. i really do feel sorry pitbulls

Most won't be able to afford a real pitbull, and those that can will keep losing them if they are irresponsible..... I too feel sorry for the breed and now the mastiffs and bullldogs too

Just measured Chloe again, by scratching the wall at her highest point of withers and she is 15 and 3/4 inches......

Does she need to be relaxed when measuring her ?
