Harness my dog can't escape
Hello,
I am having trouble finding a harness that my staffy can't escape from.
I have tried a few different styles, but he manages to back out of them. I have had them fitted properly to him so they are definitely on tight enough. But he still can get out!
Is anyone able to recommend a harness that might suit?
Thanks,
Leah

Re: Harness my dog can't escape
Hi and welcome from me and mine
I'd actually look at this from a different angle. Instead of stopping your dog being able to escape from his harness, I'd work towards him not wanting to escape in the first place.
When does he do it, what is his motivation?

Hi ya Leah, welcome to the forum from Flo and me
They are quiet the escape artists aren't they ! We had loads of trouble finding one that Flo couldn't get out of easily. It wasn't because she was being naughty it was when she refused to walk that she would wriggle out backwards.
In the end we found a handmade one at a French market in the UK but the clincher was that the "D" ring was much further down her back so that the ring would flip back but wouldn't pull on the harness if that makes sense. This harness also helped with the pulling too

Re: Harness my dog can't escape
Hi from me & Katy, good point from Liz. What is the history with the harnesses you have tried, are they too tight & are hurting him or are too uncomfortable? Katy has a Ezydog harness that is very comfortable & I cant see anyway of her getting out of it if she wanted to.

Re: Harness my dog can't escape
Thanks all for your help so far.
The first time he backed out of his harness was at the beach and I think he was startled by a wave.
Now he does it for no obvious reason except that he gets to run without a lead!
I've tried an Ezy Dog harness that has the chest plate, but that rubbed against his neck. I've since had one of the Ezy Dog quick fit harness fitted, but have since heard mixed reviews on them with regards to dogs that manage to escape from their harnesses.
