My Staff has been having seizures Empty My Staff has been having seizures

Post by Barry G Mon Dec 28 2015, 21:12

At our witts end with our beautiful Staffy Frankie. Last monday he had a massive seizure whilst I had him in work with me. He went on to have 3 more that day and I admitted him to our local vet hospital. He is now on EPIPHEN 1 tablet twice a day and was on levetiracetam twice a day although iv now stopped them and I'm down to half a epiphen twice a day. Frankie is now in a drunken like state most of the day and sleeping a lot. I'm not insured and the costs have allready spiralled past £600 which we have paid....I'm worried Frankie may have a Tumour and an MRI scan just to check is upwards of £1500 ....I can get this money together but was wondering if anyone else has had issues like this ....Frankie is 11 and 6 months ago we lost his mum with cancer , as you can imagine Frankie has been traumatised and we go out and leave him even for a few hours he has been really down. I'm hoping this has brought the seizures on but I'm fearing the worst....has anyone had similar issues.

Thanks Ian , just talking about our Boy at the moment helps. If your a dog lover and also a Staffy lover you will understand how we are feeling. Our life and time means nothing at the moment watching our boy like this.

I totally understand Barry, we do anything to help them. It's at times like this you wish they could talk and tell you what's wrong. The forum is here at any time if you want to talk about how things are.

I'm hoping someone will see this thread and offer some experience.

I guess that's the only way of getting to the bottom of Frankie's issue Barry. Do let me know how you get on and I have my fingers crossed that it's something that can be sorted fairly easily.

Hope you have a good New Years too.

Really sorry that I can't offer any advice, having not experienced this, but I really hope that the MRI brings as positive news as possible and your boy is comfortable. Thoughts are with you!
