Aggressive breed studys
Can anyone point me to good quality studys on specific dog breeds on biting and natural aggression,
I'm asking as I'm genuinely finding it difficult to see any natural aggression in my dog , I see huge ability to do damage which is often taken advantage of by bad owners , but that's a different thing to being naturally aggressive.
I'm getting tired of just expressing my personal opinion and am looking for something more scientific and or official.

However, these studies are MASSIVELY bias and only focus on the serious reported injuries and deaths. Othe studies prove that the small terrier shits are hugely more aggressive and likely to bite, and bite more, but don't get reported. The dachshund is reported to be the most dangerous dog in terms of actual aggression followed closely by the jack Russel.
Having works in kennels for years, the small terrier type (jrt and pomeranian types) are the worst by far. The only dogs banned from 99% of kennels are akitas.

Re: Aggressive breed studys
I've not heard that, Lexii. We have an Akita in at Danaher at the moment, and have had others over the year I've been going there, so they are certainly not banned by us. The only dogs that are 'banned' at our kennels are those that we cannot rehome for legal reasons, i.e. those on the official UK list of banned dogs. If you mean boarding kennels, I know that both of the kennels near me will take Akitas. The one round the corner even has Akitas on their price list as an example of a large dog.
Sadly, I don't think that the best research in the world will stop people telling you you've got an aggressive dog. The best thing you can do is keep on working as you already are, to make MissyMoo the friendliest, best socialised and happiest dog you can, so you can prove by example.
I think you've hit the nail on the head there, Brian. That's of course true of many dogs, but bull breeds are strong and tenacious, so the potential for damage is greater than, say, a Yorkie. I also wonder if, for various reasons, bull breeds are sometimes less well socialised early on and so have poorer inter-canine skills.I see huge ability to do damage which is often taken advantage of by bad owners , but that's a different thing to being naturally aggressive.

Re: Aggressive breed studys
Every kennel i worked at banned akitas and mostly due to personal experience of them going for someone without any warning. They are known for no warning attacks. We allowed one at my last kennel, but only because she came since a puppy but all the staff had a very strict "no touching" policy. She was let out to the pen, she would go, she was called in and she came. She was not physically touched or walked, and the owner agreed to this cause no other kennel would take her.
