Thoughts on Adaptil
Anyone any experience with this , what is it actually useful for and what wont it do ?
Ill be leaving MissyMoo in a kennel in a run during the day for up yo 5 hours , would this be good for helping her settle in to things , this will only be for 5 or 6 random days a month , not a permanent thing

Re: Thoughts on Adaptil
Adaptil collar / diffuser for the home releases a chemical similar to dog pheremones when the dog is still a puppy and with their mum its used to calm the dog down. Before you leave missy id take her a long walk with a combined play session / or mental stimulation before you leave. Theres also the option of toys and a stuffed frozen kong.

Re: Thoughts on Adaptil
As she's still so young, tiring her out with a walk will be difficult!
By all means have a good game with her, but try to calm her down before you leave or she'll go spare when you're not there!
Adaptil is good for some dogs but not others. However, it certainly won't hurt to use it. I'd use the plug in, not the collar, though. A collar left on a pup for that length of time without supervision could be very dangerous.

Re: Thoughts on Adaptil
I would not leave a dog with a kong, it needs to be supervised at all times. Lots of exercise and she will go for a snooze hopefully. I would even make it part of her day, my dogs go to the pen everyday and they literally run to the gate and stand and wait to get put in at say lunch time when they are a pest in the house. They get a treat for going in, so they are happy.

Re: Thoughts on Adaptil
She is only 9 weeks old , we have had her for 3 , she will only be 12 weeks when we need to be leaving her for approx 5 hours on random days , she sleeps in a covered cage in the house at night with no issues , goes from 11.30 till 7 am she also loves going to her cage during the day to get away from things .
Yesterday i got her familiar with the new pen and kennel , i gave her lots of treats in the kennel and one of her teddys that she likes to " kill " and she was fine going in and out of the kennel , later i gave her her mid day feed in the kennel in the pen and closed the pen gate and left , she was fine while eating then she became unsure and whimpered , she spent approx 20 mins going in and out of kennel whimpering and scratching at the gate , at which point i waited for a break in the whimpering and went out to her and brought her in , ill try again over the next few days in the hope she starts to get used to it and stays longer .
