Post by 90s chick Fri Jul 24 2015, 09:17

Ok so basically she started 3 days ago initially I thought the drops on the kitchen floor where from my youngest son who had a nose bleed turns out bee is becoming a lady so blankets cover her spot on settee she is whining an awful lot and she isn't happy about the no walkies situation as she's missing her walking partner Bruno (the male staffy from 3 doors down ) any advice would be great this is a first for me too.

Hiya firstly id invest in heat pants for bee some dogs dnt take to them tho Smile do you have a secure enclosed garden she can burn energy off? Would be an idea to walk bee when there will less likely be dog owners about either early in the morning/late at night. Her first season may be all over the place and last about 6 weeks it all depends very much on the dog . On times you can get her out play with her in the house with rope toys, hide treats all over the house this will tire her out mentally. Make sure your doors and gates are locked at all times the males dogs will sense bee from upto a mile away . Usually can tell when the wee staffy in the next blocks in season because we get a few male dogs around the door.

Yeah gardens are closed off she goes out freely in back garden we have plenty of rope toys and balls she doesn't seem interested in play at the moment she isn't eating her usual amounts she is just picking we where thinking of walking her late at night will have a look for heat pants for her any ideas as to where to look?? She is just laying on sofa or her bed and wandering in garden doing her business then back in she seems lost and not her usual boisterous self

With Misty we just walked her very early in the morning and very late at night. We kept to road walks only as I didnt think it was fair to go to a park just incase a male could be there. We just kept her busy inside with a lot of brain games etc.

Amazon or a pet shop will do them i would imagine her stomach will be swollen she doesn't realise whats happening all females feel sorry for themselves during this time. She may react differently with the second season the second season is 6 months give or take from when your dog has their first season Smile

I'd also like some tips Ive never had a female dog who has come into season and vet seems to think maisies first will be soon. Can we not walk her outside at all? We don't have our own private garden until next month when we move house? Feel sorry for my wee baby already lol!

Just walk maisie times least likely other dog walkers will be about. Not having a garden isn't necessarily a bad thing you can have playtime at home with toys /games
