Hello,
I am having a problem with Topaz walking on lead,I have her on a harness
But as soon as she feels any pressure she shakes and is very unhappy I have let her run free with lead attached
and she is okay, this is spoiling our walks (two) as she is very happy running off the lead, she is now 14 weeks, has anyone else had this ,need help with this, thanks

my buddy is 13 weeks and he also hated the lead - I tried a harness and he went mad, so I found attaching a lead to his collar and walking with him and then stopping giving him a treat and getting him to sit and letting the lead touch his back loosely as he is sitting, and then slowly putting some pressure on it as you walk forward saying walk on or a command similar and give him another treat as he walks forward I did this for two or three days for about 20 mins at a time two or three times a day I then put his harness on but kept the lead on his collar- he didn't like the harness on but liked the idea of the treat when he walked more... by the end of day five I could attach a lead to the harness and one to the collar and by day seven lead on the harness only - still give him a treat every now and then to distract him if he starts to get unhappy.. now I can walk him on collar and lead or harness with no issues , he is getting ready for his first walk next week in the wide world so far has been our back and front garden but at least I know he is ok on the lead now - may not work for you but thought I would share it in case it helps.

That's great advice from Carol. Little and often is the key. I think you'll also find that when they get out in the big bad world there'll be lots of new sights and smells to help take his mind of the lead a little.
