A little progress
Tonight for the first time I have got casper to focus on me when he was excited! I've put one of those squeakers he has pulled from a toy to good use and squeezed it while he was playing with Miley. He stopped playing and actually came to me, stayed long enough to get a treat, then she pounced on him and I lost his attention but small steps and all that. It was indoors too so may be totally useless in the garden but hopefully if I can use this squeaker successfully indoors and he realises it gets him a treat, it will have the same effect outdoors.

Well done Casper! Small steps, keep doing it inside for a bit longer then take him outside and do it you'll be surprised how quickly he'll learn especially if he knows there's something yummy for him at the end of it!

Good observation. You know it gets his attention and he'll learn that he will get a treat if he comes so keep working at it, it'll pay back big time if he Susses it out

Re: A little progress
Well it's worked when on the beach today. He was on a long lead and decided to chase my youngest, casper ignored the squeaker when I pressed it once, but did come back to me when I pressed it a few times together. Once he'd done it that first time and got his treat he stopped chasing my son the first time I pressed it and came right back to me. I'm feeling very pleased with him today as I know how he loves chasing the kids. I think we are a very long way off him being off lead with the kids around but now I've found something to get his attention when he is focused on chasing ive got something to work with
