Bit of Progress
My uncle Norman came over a little while ago. He's old-ish and in bad health, so a dog jumping all over him isn't ideal, so Loki always goes on the lead for a bit to meet him, but usually Norman isn't in a fit state for it, so Loki goes into the yard or his cage a bit so Norman gets a break. Anyway, put Loki on his lead and had the usual, restraining him while he's going wild. But after three or so attempts there was a noticeable difference, he was just sitting there calmly, and when Norman would go to stroke him, he'd stay calm for a while. He did eventually try to jump after a while but not with as much force. It doesn't sound that good, I know, but there was definitely a difference, he was much calmer just that the excitement would get too much after a while. I hope the progress continues, I am proud of him for the small improvement though, because small steps add up, and I know it's hard for him to stay calm when he loves people so much.

Re: Bit of Progress
That's great progress, the jumping up thing is a nightmare. It still happens in my house for the first few minutes. But is does get gradually less and less with time. As long as you can correct it properly it's the main thing.

You're right Tara, it doesn't sound that good ..... it sounds brilliant!!! You should be really proud of Loki for his big effort and yourself for all of the effort you have put in to get him there!!

Re: Bit of Progress
I'm sure as Loki gets a little older he will calm down around other people and dogs too. He is getting more mature and realising that jumping all about the place just gets him hot and bothered so not really worth it.

Re: Bit of Progress
Thanks I noticed he was biting my uncle's sleeve too. Usually he bites hands, so it's brilliant that although he forgets his manners, he remembered enough to not bite the person's skin. At least, that's what I'm choosing to believe . Ah, I give him a hard time calling him a demon and everything, he's doing very well really, I'm happy with him so wanted to share it with you all
