Food and Toileting Empty Food and Toileting

Post by Aidanh1973 Wed May 06 2015, 11:07

Hi All,

Baxter has been on Eukanuba up until now and seems to be doing ok on it, the only thing is he Poos a lot, probably five or six time a day and his wind stinks. I have read on here that a change in food can help with this so we are considering moving him to another brand of dry food. Can anyone recommend a brand which may be better for him ?

Thanks

Hi have you changed any treats at all that could be the cause of excess wind?

No, he has Harringtons training treats.  The wind isn't what i'd call excessive but when it happens it stinks Smile.  I do think that five to six Poos a day is a bit excessive though Smile

Here is a link that should help. If you change foods be sure to do it gradualy. We feed Suki raw and she goes once or twice a day

Zeus had this problem too with certain foods. If you're looking for something in a similar price range as Eukanuba, try James Wellbeloved or Wainwrights (both obtainable from Pets At Home). Decent food with decent ingredients and very well priced.

Not every food suits every pup so it may just be a case of the Eukanuba isn't quite right for Baxter. As mentioned above, try another and introduce slowly and see how he gets on Smile
Bane is also raw fed but poos maybe 3 times a day...but they are very small each time. I just think he likes to make more work for us and likes to spread it out Laughing

Ruby used to poo about 5/6 times a day but this has reduced as she's got older. Not sure how old Baxter is but Ruby's 5 months so it may just reduce naturally.
I've give up with the smelly wind and just accept she's a staffy so it comes with the territory haha

They do go quite a bit as youngsters but it does get less as they grow.
