New Pup Not Eating
Hi all
Have recently picked up my new 8 week old pup and everything is going great (crate training, toilet training etc).
Only issue is that I'm having a lot of trouble getting her to eat her food. I've tried wetting it down with wet food and water with no change. The only time she'll eat is if I lay it out on the floor or hand feed her but I don't want to get her into that habit.
I know if she's hungry she'll eat, but I just worry as she's still small and I want to make sure she gets enough calories in. Food is the same as what she had at the breeder so there hasn't been any change...
Any tips would be appreciated

Re: New Pup Not Eating
I think it may just be nerves at being in a new location. I would continue to hand feed a little but also recommend putting her food in a bowl and picking the bowl up after 15 minutes. This way she will get hungry and learn when meal times are. Sounds a bit cruel but its for the best in the long run.
If she still won't eat after 3 days or so or if she is not drinking I would go to the vet.

Re: New Pup Not Eating
Thanks for your replies.
She eats her treats and then picks them out if I try mixing in with her proper food - so she does eat, just not enough and what I want Have been limiting the snacks as I don't want her getting used to it, but sometimes I just want her to have something.
Water she has no issues with and knows where her bowl is. I'll try taking it away and see what happens, otherwise I might try another type of food and see if it makes a difference.
I'll get some pictures up soon

She's been on Royal Canin, have switched to another and changed bowls and she seems to be eating better
Will give the royal canin another go and see how she goes

Re: New Pup Not Eating
If she prefers the other food I'd stick with it. Provided it's a good quality one, give her what she likes best.
