Re: Poo eating
usually when a dog eats their own poo theyre lacking in nutrients but its a good food if its from the vet perhaps a check up with the vet is in order as i dnt know what else may cause her to do this. hopefully someone can answer your question.

Re: Poo eating
Ruby is 5 months old and does this too. I'm not too worried as she seems to be doing it less and apparently it's quite common for bitches. I've noticed she only eats fresh, warm poo and won't go back to the cold stuff (sorry). Usually I just distract her and she stops.

Re: Poo eating
Yeh I've heard it's quite common she has had her 6 month check up at the vets and they are very happy with her
We do distract her and she will leave it but if we are not watching her she will eat it and the first we know about it is when she comes in and licks your face
I have now changed her food to royal canin junior so see if it makes any difference thanks

Re: Poo eating
It's tough but it's a case of getting to it first a lot of the time. I know how hard it can be though, my girl is a sneaky cat poop eater
Food wise, try not to feel pressured by what the vet recommends. I've never fed anything that my vet has told me to lol! They usually just sell what they're commissioned to.

Re: Poo eating
I had this problem with Zeus when he was a pup, I tried everything! Pineapple chunks in his food, tablets from Pets At Home, charcoal biscuits, but none of it worked.
I found that getting there before Zeus helped the most and if he ever got to it , or started to eat it, he got told off with a firm 'NO!'.
The main reason I found why he'd eat it is because the food he was on at the time weren't really digesting properly, so it came out still smelling like food (hence why he tried eating it). I changed his food a number of times and eventually he stopped doing it.

Re: Poo eating
Bane went through a bit of a phase, but only with our neighbours dog's poo. He has always eaten biscuits and never really has very good stools (man do they stink!) so we put it down to the same reason as goldie. He did grow out of it though
