we have a staffi puppy nearly 6mths old and all he does is want to eat poo...
his, horse poo and anypoo he can get his teeth in to,
i know they can do this as its a puppy thing but he wont eat his food as he eating to much poo... i clean up after him in the garden and bag it but he has grabbed the bag outta my hand to eat it....
he also poo's and eats it straight after not even giving me a chance to clean it up....
i,v try'd changing foods good stuf to the cheper market and pineapple in his diet,
vets have said he should grow outta it but i,m tempted to try these anti-poo eating pill's?!
but do they work? please help?
i feel like i,m failing him and i,m a bad owner

Re: poo eating
aaw I do feel for you
Your not a bad owner or failing him, my puppy is 20 weeks on friday and he's into poo eating too. I have also try pineapple and didn't work either, just gave him the runs.
Basically other than trying stuff, perhaps try and teach him to leave it ?
What i do now is follow him where ever he goes and if he goes for a poo, soon as he's done it, I'm like leave leave in a firm voice, sometimes he will leave and sometime he doesn't, he goes in for a quick mouthful
I think it is just doing it over and over till it clicks in his brain.
Hope this helps
Btw welcome and hello from me and bruno

You're definitely not a bad owner - if you were, you wouldn't be trying to find out how to stop him!
My Dempsey will eat cow/horse/sheep poo at the drop of a hat. The runnier the better with the cow dung. Double In fact all the dogs I've ever had have been partial to a bit of poo delicacy - a sort of canine nouveau cuisine!
Have a look through the link above & see if it helps. If not, just shout & we'll see if there's anything else you can do!

Re: poo eating
my little Milo was the same as your Ace but he's improved since we got him...heaps in fact but he's still on a few occasions eats his own, but really he's partial to any other animals' poo really apart from other dogs' poo....odd lol!! Puts a whole new perspective on the phrase 'dog shi.t breath' huh?!
I googled it and there is alot of info. there's even an unusual but official term for it

Lola still eats rabbit poo but she has learnt when I run after her and so no to stop, it's awful but I think they do eventually grow out of it, hopefully.
