Dry Cough
Hi
Over the past couple of weeks Cooper seems to have developed a cough. It's not there all the time, he only starts coughing when he gets excited (first thing on a morning, when he knows he's going for a walk or when we get home after being out).
He seems to cough for a while then wretches as if he needs to clear something. He's fine when he's out running etc and hasn't been off his food or water.
Has anyone had this problem and if so how did you cure it or is it a trip to the vets for Cooper?
Thanks for your help everyone.

Re: Dry Cough
Hi Paul,
Sounds a bit like Kennel Cough. It could be he has caught it from another dog whilst out. If it is...then it will cure itself overtime or your vets can give him a course of antibiotics to help so I would personally go to the vets and see what they recommend.
Im sure others will be along shortly to give more advice

Re: Dry Cough
Sounds just like our neighbours pup...turned out she had Kennel Cough, must have caught it from the park. They got a course of antibiotics from the vets to clear it up

Re: Dry Cough
Ledger had kennel cough recently either picked up in the park just from contact with somewhere an infected dog had been or in Pets at home
He is vaccinated against it so wasn't as bad as it can be but was torture to hear him, vet said they no longer give antibiotics as the same as a human cough it doesn't actually do much, they just gave a cough suppressant (like covonia)
Best get him checked he could still be highly contagious so don't take him into the vet surgery ask them to come out to the car
