Worried Mum!!!
Hi, hoping someone can help, my girl is 5 months old. I got her at 8 weeks and it's only been me and her until 2 weeks ago a male friend moved in who has started to tell her off. Since he moved in she's started to cower and I'm unsure if its because of the male tone or she's still adjusting. Prior to him moving in, everytime a male would visit she was happy as and wanted their attention, she does still want cuddles etc but worried about the cowering. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as i want her to grow up with no nervous issues

Re: Worried Mum!!!
Sounds like the male friend does not like dogs? Dogs can pick up on this.
Why is he telling her off, has she been more naughty than normal? Staffies dont do well when shouted at. They do much better with a firm voice. She is still very much a puppy.

Yes I would ask nicely to leave the training to you, its hard for a dog to understand more than one guide, if its always been you then she will be finding it hard to adjust. You could get your male friend to perhaps interact with her in a different way ie feed her or play games positive things to gain her trust

Why is he telling her off? Do you not feel comfortable asking him to stop? She sounds very scared.

Re: Worried Mum!!!
She certainly sounds scared All she knows is you as her owner so you should be the one training her...I would ask him to do only positive things with her such as play and feed to gain trust as Inez said ^^ She is still a puppy so loud yelling or shouting will terrify her!

Re: Worried Mum!!!
She sounds pretty scared! I would have him do some fun things with her to try and build up her confidence around him. And also explain that shouting isn't acceptable, a firm voice is plenty enough.
The OH's dad is awful at this. Even when he asks Bane to do tricks he shouts and wonders why he doesn't listen or runs away. Drives me crazy!

Re: Worried Mum!!!
My girl is my lead dog as she is so confident running, she beats my boy up for the fun of it, she is the most loving girly girl I could ever hope to have and is all fussy waggy tail around me... will give other dogs a damn good scolding for being to close..yet she too will bow her head to anyone but me who approaches. I have no idea why either as she is so confident normaly... find a cure let me know
