Wow what a weekend, up at 05:30 yesterday and trecked up to Derdyshire. Race briefing at 08:30 and then we were off at 09:06. was very cold and our first run on this course so wasnt expecting much. after all the rain it was very mushy and was hard getting traction on the back wheel on the hill's which meant I had to rely on the dogs to pull me up.
the dogs did me proud and at the end of the race they looked like they had just been for a mild walk so I rode them back to the camp site lol.
wasnt sure how we had done so later in the night i walked up to the race Marshals office to check our standings to find we were in second place in our group behind a team GB rider
Last night the temps dropped, it snowed and froze and the tent was freezing cold inside even with the cooker on full blast. the airbed sprung a leek so i was left sleeping on freezing ground. I was up at 4am trying to get the dogs warm which wasnt happening so i ended up stuffing marley into my sleeping bag with me and and curling around laska. when i woke all my clothes had frozen including my bike shoes so not a good start to the day. the dogs love the cold for running and the hard frost had frozen all the mud which proved to be a pain in the ass the day before. they ran like steam trains and I could get good grip on the frozen ground. one problem, there is a two foot deep water feature and as it was so cold the dogs stopped dead as soon as they hit it, riding towards laskas arse with no way of stopping the only thing i could do was bail into the water myself...not nice and cut my knee open which i didnt realise until the end as my legs were so numb.
Felt like the heat today was much faster than yesterday and very happy with the guys, packed tent away in god awful wind and snow and trudged off to the prize giving half hoping we had come somewhere just for the effort they had put in. First place no suprise with the lass who ran for Team GB and second place.... team stafsky...yup we had done it! second place in two dog Bikejor. so excited i went back to the car and showed them the rosette and trophy but they were more intrested in ripping open the glovebox for the treats in there lol.
great weekend, had a great time and met so many great people. lots of people asking what my guys were and suprised to find out they were staffy cross sibe. so many positive comments and alot of the stewards came over to pet them saying how well they run. can you tell im so so proud of them right now! forgot to vid the race today but have yesterdays and will be posting tomorrow. was going to have an early night tonight but still buzzing, and bloody nice to have the heating on lol

A second place without even realising it is fantastic, imagine if they hadn't got so cold in the water huh. Love watching your vids with the pooches
