Re: toilet training.
Depending on his age, I think its always easier when you have other dogs as the puppy learns alot from them, I started ruby off by carrying her outside regularly to go the toilet and I use to say aww good girl awww arent you good in a pleasing voice and give her a treat haha sound abit like a nutter but it worked over time then I use to walk and get her to follow me outside, if she ever had an accident inside I use to just say no naughty and clean it up, it did eventually work but she did follow the others outside alot too,
Try to be patient he will be doing it fine before you know it

Re: toilet training.
Are you using pads Sue ? If you are, move them nearer and nearer the door. If your not and going straight for the outdoors try and get into a routine of times. 20-30 mins after eating and stay there until Winston goes. It's labourious and cold and often wet but he will get the message.
When he makes a mess inside don't make a fuss about it, simply clean it up with a deodorising cleaner so that he doesn't get into the habit of going in the same place

Re: toilet training.
Theres plenty of different ways to toilet train Sue, all dogs are different so its the way they respond to that works best.
Your puppy doesn't have full bladder control until at least 6 months so don't expect miracles! The easiest way is to encourage their business outside after play time, after food, and any kind of excitement. this could be as simple as having visitors round. Turn it into a routine as well, so every morning, both go into the garden, wait till she goes and be sure to give her plenty of praise and treats and toys, go nuts with it. this way she will associate it with fun. When she goes in the house, simply clean it up with a deodorising spray and put her outside for a couple of minuets. the smell will put her off going in the same place twice. Its really as simple at that. Again...patience is key. They are learning but sometimes they physically cant help it so don't think that your pup isn't improving.
Hope this helps

Re: toilet training.
We started him outside straight away and he had newspaper down in his bed area incase of night time accidents. (we would go down a couple of times in the night to let him out too)
During the day we would take him out every half an hour or so and say a key phrase like 'wee time' or 'pop a squat' and when he went repeat in an excited voice and treat. Praise him lots so he understands he did something good.
As he got older, we hung a jingly keyring on the back door and jingled it every time we took him out and said the key phrase. He soon learnt to ring the keyring when he wanted to go out
If he looked about to have an accident inside, we would try to quickly grab him and put him outside. If we were too late, just ignored it and cleaned up.
They do pick it up if you are consistent I would say Bane's last genuine puppy accident in the house was about 13 weeks of age. But it can take up to 6 months for them to have full control of their bladder and obviously all have their own ways of learning

I've always used pads and just moved them closer to the door. Also take them out after eating, sleeping, or playing and wait until they go and give lots of praise
