blood in vomit and poo
My Sheila was sick yesterday morning,, it seemed sort of orangy red colour,, although its very unusual for her to be sick she seemed ok after and still ate later. This morning she wouldnt eat and her tummy was growling, this sometimes happens with her and she will have an off day then be ok. but tonight she has had a very runny poo, looked like mucas in it ,,, but it seemed like it was mostly blood,, very red. She is obviously in discomfort as she seems unable to settle, but she isnt crying or whining. There is definitely something very wrong though, I am taking her to the vet in the morning, but anyone got any ideas.

Not something I've come across Kaz. Could she have eaten something silly ?
Hope she's ok and good luck at the vets, do let us know how she gets on.

She will sometimes pick something up when we are put if you dont watch ,,, but i cant recall her managing to get anything lately. Quite scary to see all that what looked like pure blood just squirt out of her.
Whenever she does anything or gets ill its always out of ours,, the out of hours vet is about a half hour drive,, thats if you have a car.

Yeah these things always seem to happen at the worst times. Give Sheila a hug from Flo and me.

Re: blood in vomit and poo
Best see what vet says, maybe she has been a little bloated and constipated hence strained herself. Just keep an eye on her overnight and hope vet will put your mind at ease xx

Re: blood in vomit and poo
well the vet said its a bug going around apparently, which causes hemorrhagic diarrhoea. She said quite a dew dogs in our town had it recently and some had even ha to go in and be put on a drip for a couple of days. Sheila isnt as bad as that, but she said to take her back if she deteriorates. She has given her a a course of antibiotics juts as a caution to stave off any infection she is more susceptible to picking up while she recovers. She is not to have anything to eat until tomorrow morning,, ( that will be 48 hours as she didnt eat yesterday) then just chicken fish an rice etc for about a week. She seems a bit better in herself today and at least WANTS to eat poor thing.
Thanks for all your good wishes

Re: blood in vomit and poo
Aw so glad she feels better now, funny my vet said to me they used to starve them and not let them eat, now they recommend that they have very bland diet for about 4-5 days the let the stomach heal, as i know Ruby was hungry too and said to reduce food!!
