can stings or mozzies make puppies vomit/ill?
my poorly little Jellybean is not doing well today - she threw up all of her breakfast, doesn't want lunch but did eat a chicken stock cube and has been very lethargic - yesterday too, except no throwing up, just lethargic. Not sure if it's just the heat or if she is allergic to something? She roots around in the garden but nothing unusual out there and nothing new. She went for a good walk this morning too. Wondering if she got stung or something, she has bumps on her back like mosquito bites, but has had them for a few days.

The bumps on the back do sound like an allergic reaction to something. Do you have an antihistamine tablet to give her. Piriton would be OK, Loratadine can also be used.

yes, i'm thinking if not better soon then we'll do the vet first thing. she hasn't thrown up again but she's just totally lethargic, lying there with her eyes open just hanging out. there aren't a lot of bumps on her back, just a couple in one area, probably those damn black flies, they KILL me when I get bitten by them.

I would definitely go to the vet. Is she drinking enough? Make sure she is drinking plenty in the heat I also think that a stock cube may not be a good thing to give her considering the high sodium content and it may also contain MSG which certainly not good.

I'd at least call the vet tbh. Can't be too careful specially in the hot weather.

Sounds like an allergic reaction to me as well. If she isn't drinking or is still letargic I'd go see the vet.

Took her to the vet yesterday afternoon after checking in here - thought better to be safe than sorry. Vet was worried about the vomiting and checked her over - no fever, some discomfort in her tummy but nothing weird or unusual. She was dehydrated, and they gave her fluids and sent her home with some nausea meds. Small meals of rice and a bit of food mixed in and so far so good, nothing has come back up, thank goodness. Covering her food in water so she has to lap that up at least. Think we found the real reason she got ill when we were clearing up the garden last night - a small thin clearish white bag like the ones you put fruit and veg in at the grocery store, in her poo. Foxes drag loads of rubbish into our garden every day but we don't catch it all and she must have eaten it on Monday while rooting around back there as she was pretty sluggish on Monday as well.
So looks like she's back and full of beans, which is nice to see. Taking her for follow up this morning.
Thanks all for your feedback!!!

yes, so very relieved it wasn't some illness or disease. just a naughty puppy eating and chewing her way through everything in my supposedly puppy proofed house.
