toilet training in a flat/apartment!
Django is now 7 months old, and we are beginning to struggle with his toilet training!
I live in a 2nd floor flat, so 3 up, and it's hard to judge exactly when he needs to go, as he shows no signs of actually needing out for the most part, he will tell us occasionally but not always.
From about 7 - 14 weeks he was great with puppy mats, and we moved them towards the front door etc but after that he seems to just go when and where he likes!
He currently goes out for a 15 minute walk 4 times a day and usually twice outside for a pee, but we are still having accidents in the house, is this normal or should he really be able to hold it by now? I've only ever had my staffs in a house with a back and front garden before so this is totally new to me!
He will go a few days with no accidents at all and then maybe a week of at least two pees in the house per day! It's just so disheartening as he does so well and then it's back to square one! He is crate trained and can hold it overnight, or for up to 3 hours in his crate.
Does anyone have any tips on helping with this?

i would just keep at it, any area he has done his business with with a soap powder and water it should stop him going in the same place again.

as above but try white vinegar in a spray bottle diluted 50/50 with water on where ever he goes. it works amazing and gets rid of the scent. still has a few months to go yet before full bowl function so dont be disheartend yet.

Re: toilet training in a flat/apartment!
White vinegar was a godsend for us! Bane peed on our duvet and sofa but after washing with white vinegar the stain and smell was completely gone!
It's probably a bit trickier living in a flat if he isn't telling you when he needs to go out. We hung a little jingly keyring on our back door handle and every time we took Bane out for a wee we would jingle it and say "wee time". He soon picked up that if he wanted to go out and he hadn't spotted him, he just had to jump up at the keyring Maybe something to try?

I sprayed the stuff that's supposed to stop.chewing on mishap areas to deter misty. Try massively over the top congratulations and immediate treat as Doon as he does it outside. Good luck!

Re: toilet training in a flat/apartment!
Im currently trying to train Harrie to go while we are out walking we only have a small back yard and its better and cleaner for her to go while we walk as I will pick it up straight away.
At the moment Im giving her heaps of praise and a treat when she poops on a walk, ok I look like an idiot yelling out good girl as she does her stuff but if it keeps the yard clean Im happy to wear that.
Cheers

I guess its a little harder to train when you dont have a garden to let them out in straight away. go back to the puppy mats next to the front door and put him there when he goes in the house. Its still a little early for him to have full control over his bladder anyway so remember to take him to the mat/outside after food and playtime and encourage with 'wee wee' or whatever you prefer and over praise him when he does it in the right place with cuddles and treats...then he'll probs need another wee

Right! Back to the puppy mats and the cupboard is stocked with cleaning products! Oh how I miss patio doors!
We say "good business" when he goes and "do your business" when outside as a prompt.
