Help With Toilet Training!!
Hi, I really need some advise.. Gerrard will not go outside to do his business.. I can stand there for 30 minutes and he will just walk around then as soon as we come back inside he does his business, I've tried everything I can think of, but he will only go in the house.. I've put training pads down but he won't do anything on them and I've even tried the spray.. Help!! He's destroying the house but I can't be mad because he's only a baby x

What is your routine for toileting? Is he allowed out on walks yet?

I generally take him out every hour or so and after meal times, he hasn't had his 2nd lot of injections yet.. He is allowed out on the 23rd July x

Re: Help With Toilet Training!!
The time to really get them is first thing in the morning - is he clean overnight? If he is, then the very first thing you need to do the second you get up is take him into the garden & stay there! If he's had to hold it overnight then he'll be busting & will hopefully go.
You could also take a toy with you & give him a little game. If he's distracted with a toy he might forget where he is & pee - then you can give him loads of praise. Of course he also needs to go out after any sleep, game or meal - but I'm sure you know that anyway.
Also, use a 'trigger' word like "Weewee" or "Clean" or whatever you want & the second you see him start to squat use that word & then give him a treat when he's finished.

I take him out first thing in the morning, he is clean overnight, no accidents yet.. I took him out first thing today and was stood outside for 30 minutes saying 'wee wees' my neighbour thinks I'm crazy! Lol.. Then we came back in side and he did a wee and poo in the kitchen when I was washing up! I use a non ammonia based spray, It was recommended to me at Pets at Home x

Re: Help With Toilet Training!!
In my experience, these sprays don't do the job! They often leave a little scent behind.
Try using a solution of biological washing powder (or liquid) - it completely destroys all smell of urine & will not only discourage your pup from peeing there again, but will make your home smell a little sweeter! It's also a lot cheaper!

Try taking a toy into the garden with you, it often helps.

Re: Help With Toilet Training!!
Hey.
I used simple solutions stain and odor remover spray and it seemed to really work. My girl wasnt for doing the toilet outside the first few weeks, she would sit and whine! At 15 weeks she is pretty good now but its alot of running about as she still doesnt mind peein in house. I would spend ages standing and nothing but then 1 day she just done it?!?!

Re: Help With Toilet Training!!
Hi I was told that doggy's really don't like the smell of lemon scented washing up liquid so I always used that to clean up any mess (also helps to stop digging in the garden), my staffy is almost 17 weeks and hasn't done the toilet in the house since she was about 12-13 weeks old, if u say wee wee often enough she will get the message, I tell lexxi to go far a pee and she does it!! Hope all goes well for u!! X

I got some 1001 carpet cleaner and odor spray to use when Archie has accidents on the carpet. I might try this to see if it stops him. Do you just mix it with some water? Ty
