Introducing twins into the home with my Staffy
Hi everyone. My Staffy, Buster, is the sweetest dog imaginable. He loves children and loves his fusses. He is also the only pet and so is spoilt.
My son and his girlfriend live with me and have just discovered they are having twins in May!! This is wonderful news but I am slightly concerned on how Buster will react when he isn't centre of attention.
Does anyone have any tips and advice on how to manage this. I want him included every step of the way as he is a huge part of my life. Obviously I am aware never to leave them alone with him etc etc but he is so nosey and will probably not leave them alone!!! He'll soon change his mind when they are both crawling all over him though
All comments welcome, thank you

Re: Introducing twins into the home with my Staffy
Thank you for your reply Crystal :-) I have had children in the house before, and even a young baby. He was as good as gold. It might be a bit different though when they are living here. I know that when the twins are born and are first brought into the house that we all have to make a fuss of him so he associates them with nice things. He just has to have his nose in everything though, all the time. I have got stair gates downstairs but then don't want to shut him out. He will probably be fine but I don't want him to become jealous of them so want to get it right!! It's my fault for spoiling him so much lol

This link may be worth a read, sometimes its a good idea to let dog have a blanket or something with babies smell on it. A friend of mine did this when she had her first child, and before the arrival of bubba her Doberman was defo her baby. Worked very well indeed.
