Kennel Club Registered (pedigree) names

I came across Theias KC certificate this afternoon, and while reading thru the names in her family tree, I got thinking out of curiosity (or maybe boredom!) about how the breeders come up with some of their names!
And also, there are some unusual and creative names for non registered dogs too, so how did you all come up with their names? Here's ours!
Floyd was from a backyard breeder (we were naive!) so he had no "Sunday " name. Had we been able to choose one, like with Theia, it would have probably something along the lines of Mackems Crazy Diamond, Floyd was from Pink Floyd (massive fans!).

As for Theia, if you have read this explanation before, you may want to skip the next paragraph!!
Theia is registered as Texas Dark Moon, which the breeders kindly let us choose. Texas from her mam (Red Rose of Texas), Dark from dad (Grangestaff Darkest Prince), and Moon as a nod to her predecessor Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon). Theia is the name sometimes given to the planetoid that collided with Earth, (the debris from which created the moon) which comes from Greek mythology, Theia the Titan, mother of Selene, goddess of the moon. (See what we did there?!!)

Biscuit was a stray at BDH, she didn't have a name for about 4 weeks, as she was on the "7 day list" to be put to sleep. I was calling her Cookie Monster as she would try to eat everyone but be all nice for treats - or cookies lol! She ended up being called Cookie, but we had 2 other Cookie's there already, and as she was the colour of a biscuit, she got switched to Biscuit! Nothing too fancy here.. She now gets called Bug most of the time, not sure why, just stuck

both mine are crosses but the mum was something like frosty fire lady while the dad was an import from the usa choji sire of sonderdogs setting fire to the rain http://agoutidreamsiberians.webs.com/demon.htm have loads of pics from the staffy side but next to nothing from the sibe side apart from dad and grandad

My first Staff was called something like "Helen of Troy" but we didn't get the papers with her, that's a whole other story. I don't beleive I will ever meet a more pretty & intelligent dog again, she burnt a huge Staffy imprint on my soul.

My gorgeous Flo was gifted to BDCH with the original name of something like Pinder. They renamed her Fluer which has been transposed down to Flo. Not that she cares, she just loves to love and be loved

My nel is a x breed so was named for my father who passed away 3 years ago this month.

My ex partners staffy was kc resistered amd was called ruby fire flash but she was known as fudge.

As Ledger is rescue I got to choose his for his activity certificate for agility and flyball he is Let's Put a Smile on That Face 

And I bet he does Jules!

My boss must be kc registered too as he's known as Brown nose of Stevenage

Keiko was named after a Japanese lady we knew when our son James was a baby. She loved him very much and was the only person we would trust to baby sit him. Several years after naming her we learnt that Keiko means 'blessed child'
Auri is named after one of my favourite characters in the Kingkiller Chronicle series by Patrick Rothfuss.

Koda was named as a tribute to my hubby who was born in Papua New Guinea hence Kokoda became Koda. I dont remember his registered name (bad Mummy!!) but will dig his papers out tonite! Great topic, fascinating read

i rescued mia she has several nicknames miamoo, pupsi chicken leg turkey, angel cake and puppy dog. im surprised she knows whether shes coming or going most of the time.. shes a character and set in her ways bit like myself. oh dog zarra was kc registered.

Yep. It certainly suits him, and it was his 'the joker' grin that won me over hence the film quote (although it was my second choice as KC didn't accept Why So Serious)

Holly was called Benarty's Secret Treasure, she came from Kelty.
Stanley comes from a kennels in Dunstable.

Kennel club don't want tricolour staffs so thats a no no. Their loss my gain no wonder we get unwanted pups if they carry on like that.

Anyway screw the kennel club says Iza who was named after my late Mum Isabelle was gan call her Belle but that was a bit common for my girl.

Beau isn't a pedigree but with have a few names booboo princess and a few more some times!

Millies registered name is princess bonnie bluebell lol!!,when she was little she blue with blue eyes until about 4 months and she started to go darker and is now black brindle lol!! how mad!
