3 Month Plus SBT Eating Problem
Hi
My pup eats but a little a time, i feel that he needs to put on more weight.
i feed him 125g per feeding x 2 daily, but allways find almost half left over.
I have changed hos bowl, started him on a new food but still mixing the old one.
He is active but sleeps alot, any suggestions on how can pack on some kg's?
Thanks

Afraid to say the weight and build of your dog will be determind through the parents and he will grow at a pace thats natural to him. Try splitting the meals into 3 times daily, then he may not be leaving it.

Re: 3 Month Plus SBT Eating Problem
What are you feeding? Unless he's very underweight the least of your concerns at 3 months old should be bulking him up!!

Must agree with all comments you cannot think about bulking up a 3 month old pup he has to develope at his own pace
Re: 3 Month Plus SBT Eating Problem
Try feeding him the rest through the day when training him?

Re: 3 Month Plus SBT Eating Problem
Hi
Thanks for the responses.
He is currently eating Hills, i moved him off the Ekanuba.
his daily consumption is only 100-150g.
I can only feed him twice as he is alone when we go to work. I dont want to Bulk up per say but make him put on more weight. All his brothers are alomst double his sze therefore i am a bit concerned.

At 3 months old.. feeding him twice a day isn't too great, should be at least split into 3 meals.. then twice a day when he's 6 months +

Re: 3 Month Plus SBT Eating Problem
When I first brang Buster home he wasn't eating a lot or even drinking, I thought he was scared of the bowl because it's shiny but now he's eating just fine and it's been about a week or so since he's been home.
Make sure to take his food away after about 20 minutes, he will soon understand he has to eat when the food is down else it will go and he will have to wait till his next meal.

Re: 3 Month Plus SBT Eating Problem
To be honest I wouldn't change his bowl/dish, your puppy will soon start to understand that's where his food will be there isn't a point in switching it unless you 100% sure he will never get use to it.
Also I wouldn't change his food, he's a puppy if you want to feed him a certain food and as long as it doesn't make him sick etc then you shouldn't change it, he will get use to it.
I was watching some youtube videos about training dogs and the man says "You're trying to train your puppy and your puppy is also trying to train you into letting him do what he wants", what I'm trying to say is your puppy is very young, you gotta get him use to the things you want now before he grows up and then it will be harder to change his food etc.

Re: 3 Month Plus SBT Eating Problem
Can you get someone to come in half way through the day? That is far too long to leave any dog, especially a puppy.

I agree, way too long, not healthy for a pup to be left that long, especially as their bladder isn't fully developed yet.
