What to feed my staffy puppy (8 weeks)
Hi everyone, we pick our puppy Maddie up in 2 weeks, she will be 8 weeks old. I'm not sure what we should feed her as i have had so many different recommendations. What are your opinions on frozen raw food? A friend feeds her staffy K9 natural and swears by it. The breeder is feeding the pups homebrand kibble should i do half that and half something else when we bring her home? please help

Hi, sorry I have never fed a raw food diet but there are those here who have:

We feed Rocky a good quality kibble (Barking Heads Fat Dog Slim) to keep an eye on his weight. We just add a little cooked cooled chicken to this for him.

I think iams is a good one, just because they seem to take to it quite well, or purina salmon and rice

Re: What to feed my staffy puppy (8 weeks)
Not much help to you, but I was about to ask the same question. We're getting an 8 week old pup, if all goes well, on Saturday from the Dogs Trust. So she will come with the puppy food they have been using but I want to mix in a new food fairly soon, and swap her over.
Complication with our's is they had a heavy worm infestation when picked up, so have had to contend with a change in diet, leaving mum and being wormed all in one week.
So I don't want to change her food over too soon.
My last bull terrier had the BARF diet and table scraps til she got elderly then found that she did better on commercial dog food, again.
So I'd love the new pup to go over to a raw meat and veggies diet ASAP. But as we switched our last two dogs over to raw meat when they were already 2 or 4 years old, I have no experience of doing the same with a pup, let alone a pup who is probably struggling to cope with some changes.
So if anyone comes onthread with experience of changing pups over to a raw meat diet, I'd love to have some advice, too!

It is best to keep pup on the same diet as the breeder is feeding for a few days and slowly switch foods over about a week. Have a day or two of her current food until she settles, then add a bit of the new food, then a bit more until she is having just the food you want to give.
We feed raw and love it Unless you have experience it is best to read up on it first so you know what you should be doing but it is easy enough!
