Tail not right
Molly's tail is normally held high and always wagging, I noticed today that while it was still wagging it was bent down. I have also noticed recently that it is much thicker at the base than the end... it is thick for the first quarter then has a step in it. I have a feeling that it may be broken. It may be giving her a bit of pain at the joint but I am not sure as she is a tough ol'e bird.
Have any of you come across this before ? I just want to make sure that my girl is ok...
On a better note she swam properly for the first time today... YAY
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Re: Tail not right
Yes pop to vets but could be Limber tail, Vin has had it its caused sometimes by getting the tail extremley wet. The base will be inflammed hence being thicker. It should go in a few days as you said she has been swimming or maybe just got very wet at some point. But do go to vets if it doesnt go within a few days

Re: Tail not right
well done molly on the swimming ,sash's tail always used to be the perfect pump handle shaped tail, but when she got attacked a couple of years ago and the dog bit in to her tail it has never been the same, looks like it is broken in the middle section(it is'nt thou)get it checked out with your vet to be on the safe side

Re: Tail not right
Thank you all, her tail gets wet probably every other day, she runs on the beach and loves the water, she did spend extra long sessions thurs, fri, and sat probably 3hrs each time and she is soaked for most of it,
I will try and get her booked in tomorrow''
To be honest I thought she had the hump with another dog today because of the position of her tail then realised that there was something wrong with her tail not her temprement lol.
Thanks again

Thank you, I read up a bit on limber tail and it all seems to fall into place ... I was panicing for a min thinking that she wouldn't be allowed in water again as that would break her heart.
A walk on the lead will be the order of the day tomorrow !!! she will hate it ol

Re: Tail not right
Limber tail is something I've heard of too. I would wait a few days and see if it returns to normal, If it doesn't hurt to touch.
Do let us know how you get on.

Re: Tail not right
Thank you for taking the time to ask, it is still down but the swelling has gone down a lot and it dosen't seem to be uncomfortable for her today, I have a few days off so can spend more time with her than usual, which is in some ways a shame as I won't be able to take her to the beach or woods but we have done some house work and cut a cherry tree down today and stacked it ready for later use, she likes collecting wood lol ... I didn't take her to the vets I will look at her in the morning and make a decision. Thank you again

Re: Tail not right
Yes Limber tail was what I was thinking off.
Sometimes its nice to have some home time - not when they are down but gives you time to get stuff done! Xx

Oh so glad things are nearly back to normal, if she goes in water again make sure you dry her really well especially on the tail
