Ham bones.
Hi, my misty loves these ham bones from the pet shop, they keep her happy in her crate whilst I'm at work. (See pic pls). My question is are they really ok for her to have? When she's had one her poo is hard and full of bone fragments. She seems ok, just wondered if it's healthy?

Re: Ham bones.
Please stop with these as much as dogs love them cooked bones splinter really badly and can cause horrific internal injuries and worse
Raw bones are ok but obviously can be a bit messy Ledger has frozen chicken and duck wings and every now and then pork or lamb ribs his favorite settle treat is a stuffed hoof I buy these in bulk from a raw supplier and originally they were stuffed with mince but he never got through the whole hooves so I clean and restuff with mashed sweet potato and give them frozen so again they last longer

Agree with Jules cooked bones are best to avoid. You should also stay away from large weight bearing bones because they are so dense they can damage teeth.

Re: Ham bones.
Ok thanks, I thought because they sell them at pet shops they'd be ok but it doesn't seem right that her poo is full of bones! So stuffed hoof is the way to go then to occupy her during the day. Does anyone know where I can buy some? She has a Kong but that only lasts a short time.

Re: Ham bones.
I only stumbled across hooves on my raw delivery from DAF but maybe a friendly butcher may have an idea. Kong is also good but stuff with sweet potato mash or banana/peanut butter/natural yoghurt or even your own Sunday dinner left overs etc and freeze it that should make it last a fair bit longerĀ
Other option for a bone type chew is a stag bar
