is it too late to social my dog with a new pup?
Hi all,
My staffy bitch is 4 and a half years old and has never lived with another dog, there is a male 8 month old staffy dog that is being given away by a colleague of my boyfriends as he is moving away. Is it too late to introduce my bitch to this dog and have her live with him or can I carefully introduce them and live in peace and harmony with both of them
look forward to your replies
Thanks

The age shouldn't be a problem but suppose it comes down to each dog, you could maybe try take them both a walk and see how they get on

I have walked Biddy before with other dogs and her only problem was that she wanted to walk infront of the other dog which was a wee westie

Make the meeting on neutral ground and expect the pup to be very excitable. Then get them on a long, on lead walk. I would then go to your house for an hour or so. Try this a few times to see how she gets on.
Our old boy Floyd always had to be scout when we were out with other dogs. And most of them followed him everywhere!

Yeah that sounds good, Biddy is pretty excitable herself but has calmed a bit with age. I would say after a few times she wouldn't be to bothered. she has never bit a dog but has been bitten a couple of times and think she is sometimes fearful of this

well aslong your dog like other dogs it shouldn't be a problem
Re: is it too late to social my dog with a new pup?
As long as they are introduced carefully and socialised I wouldn't think there would be any problems. Let us know how you got on
