Staffie a bit smelly
Hi all, my 9 week old puppy tends to smell, we bathed her today but she had still got that not nice dog smell, and if you come in the room from outside its very noticeable, is there anything that I can do?
I'm feeding her eukanuba puppy dry food, was thinking of changing to orijen, forgot to add that she does fart a bit and that's not a nice smell to inhale I can tell you now.
Any suggestions or remides?

Hi. If her coat is soft and clean then it could just be the diet she's on.

Yes she is soft and clean, I think I'm going to change from eukanuba dry food to orijen dry food, because origen has no grain in there food, has anyone got suggestions on dry food that would help this problem? Or jwb? Really need to solve this problem pronto

Re: Staffie a bit smelly
A smelly butt would suggest her food isn't sitting quite right with her so a change might be a good idea! Make sure you do it gradually over a week so you don't upset her tummy

I'm undecided on orijen or jwb, I'm not towards origen as it is grain free and good quality ingredients, how do I do it gradually? Mix what I'm giving her with the new? She is on dry food

Re: Staffie a bit smelly
Where abouts is the smell emminating from - which end of her ?
Bad smells from the head could be a dietry issue or a bad tooth, from the rear end could be a gas problem or blocked anal glands, I would be inclined to pop along to the vet if you are concerned.
Mix a small amount of new food in with the original food then each day gradually add more of the new food.

Re: Staffie a bit smelly
Two issues, the first is she farts a bit not often usually in the evening and the other issue is she smells a bit but it's a dog smell if you know what I mean and it's not bad smelly if you know what I mean, I went to the vets the other day for her first vaccination but forgot to say anything because her body smell isn't that bad, when you go on the house you can smell that I have a dog.

If after a week completely on the new food no changes seek vet advice.

Re: Staffie a bit smelly
Lucy was on Orijen before we changed to barf. I still have a full 12kg bag left which we will probably use as treats.
As for the smell, our Franky whiffed for a while until he was 11 weeks old. it wasn't anything to do with his food as he was always fed raw, we tried to get rid of it by washing him in Roguer Royalty (its an all natural shampoo) twice but it still lingered on for a while after that. Now he seems to have just grown out of it.
