Scared of the keyboard
Bane has developed a fear of our wireless keyboard lately. Not really sure why but when we go to pick it up or even touch it he freaks out and runs away. It does occassionally get dropped on the floor etc which is loud but not really sure why he has become so scared of it.
Is there a way of desensitising him to it? We use our computer as a TV type thing so we always have the keyboard out and don't want him to always be running away or hiding in another room!

Re: Scared of the keyboard
maybe it's emitting a horrible sound at a frequency only he can hear ..
who knows why dogs get weird about some inanimate objects
lady still attacks my wheelie-bin .. rams it with her nose barks 'n growls at it .. despite me trying to point out it's nowt but a heap of plastic
today out walking on the moors .. we came across a large tall but skinny rock formation at the top of an old quary ..
we were at the bottom of the quary .. she kept looking up at it and growling 'n barking also turning away from it with tail-between-her-legs .. she seemed glad to move on away ..
was just a 'shape' against the skyline ..
told her it were harmless .. she didn't appear to listen :-)

They do go through funny little phases Emma. Toots has started barking at the hanging bird feeder!
No reason whatsoever, it's always been there!

Yes they do go funny sometimes over something they previously did'nt get phased with. Stella used to go off it when I got the ironing board out. Now she's ok with it

Re: Scared of the keyboard
We just expose Suki to whatever is causing her to be fearlfull as often as possible. The vaccum used to freak her out so we would leave it out all the time and now she is used to it

This is what I thought, it may just take a while for him to become used to this.

Re: Scared of the keyboard
He is 12 months old next week Rachel.
The frequency thing is a good idea! We have had it for years though so he has grown up with it. He used to lay in my lap asleep while I typed away with it resting on him and he has never had a problem until now?
They are very bizarre aren't they! Bane had to stop and growl at a cone that had been knocked over on the side of the road the other day! All hackles up and everything...I flicked it back over and he just peed on it and moved on
