Loki seems to enjoy meat alot more than kibble, im at my parents today introducing my sisters collie to loki, ive bought out lokis food, and he wont touch it, he seems to get really bored of kibble and if im gonna be spending £51 every 3-4 weeks on kibble hrs just gonna get bored of I am considering raw, my mum said she would be worried it would make them more inclined to attack and now thats all I am thinking of, I know lots of you are raw feeders, so I wondered on advice on how to start raw feeding and if someone could give me a list of what their dog has a day that would be brilliant Smile

Darcy was the same with kibble hence the change to raw! My parents had the same theory as yours, which is of course ridiculous!! Have a read through this it'll help Smile

Poular misconception! Why would feeding a dog what he would naturally eat make him more aggressive. I should think that feeding him kibble, with all the constituents that a dog's digestive system is ill designed to cope with, would be more likely to have that effect. Just ask any of us who feed raw about the difference in the size and cosistency of their dog's stools. There is far less volume ( as their body can process a far higher percentage of the food) and very firm. Also, in a great number of cases, the common problem of smelly bum burps is cured We also have two cases in our club, where we have persuaded the owners of dogs with allergy problems to switch, and the results have been amazing. One of the dogs was on daily medication with twice weekly medicated baths. He is now off medication and nom longer requires these frequent baths. All of the raw feeders in our club use Natural Instinct and I reckon it costs me £1.50 - £1.80 a day to feed Bacchus depending on the meat ( chicken, duck, salmon, turkey etc.)
Hope this helps.

Ahh thank you!! Smile we have decided to go raw and for loki s current weight he needs 0.839lbs of meat a day as he is only 12.7kg, so what do you I use to start him off, is using one of these suppliers cheaper than going to the bunchers??

Haven't really compared prices. The benefit of Natural Instinct for me, as a newbie to raw, is that it's a complete food. Contains human grade meat, veg, fruit, crushed bone plus vitamins and omega3 oils. Also very easy to serve. Comes ready minced up in 1 kilo tubs. The pack also provides a table for working out recommended amounts to feed although that is only a guide. Eg. according to Bacchus's weight he should get 500gr per day but I find this puts on the beef a bit so I give him 200gr in the morning and 250gr in the evening. A little tip. If you go for the Working Dog varieties you don't pay VAT. A wee saving.

P.S.
A friend who breeds staffs weans them on this so don't be tempted to go for the more expensive puppy version.

Well the natures menu I'm gonna use to start loki off is already made up so u just follow the guide on the back, but if shes 15kg she should be getting 2-3% of her body weight in raw meat, but the meat needs to be made up of different percentages. Like muscle meat, bone, etc but depends if you are going to do BARF or the prey raw diet.
