My 13month old Staffy Bitch is chewing things. How do I stop her??

Hi All,

My name is Carolyn and we have just got a 13month old Staffy Bitch called Pepper.  She is great most of the time, but chews things   

We have bought her toys & treats, but that doesn't stop her.

We both work early mornings, but she is in her cage when we leave the house, so can't chew anything she shouldn't.  The problem is when we are at home, she chews things like doormats & lino.

Please can anybody help us??

Have read the article on chewing and Pepper is caged when we go to work or bed, she has plenty of toys and still chews.

Someone told us that Vicks Vapour Rub helps to stop this, but didn't say what to do with it. Have you heard this? If yes, can you enlighten us as to what to do, please?

Yeah I've heard of putting Vicks on door frames, table legs and things like that to discourage chewing

I've heard that Vicks on skirting boards or doors can work... Not sure what to suggest for Lino though?

Mind you... I think door mats are fair game at 13 months

Do you have any chew toys for her ? Try replacing the things she isn't allowed to chew for things she is.

Kathy, yes she dies have chew toys and they are alonside her when she chews other things

I am afraid my Sid chewed the whole dining room table leg when he was young. My then partner said he was quiet under there so I didn't think to look what he was doing!! He has grown out of it thankfully!!
