Running
When Mia does a lot of running, playing with other dogs etc she limps on her back leg. The inside of her thighs are quite muscular. I was wondering if any vitamin/mineral supplement in her food would help alleviate this problem? She is raw fed.
Thanks in advance for any replies

Re: Running
Did you consult a vet about it?

Re: Running
Yes, he said rest it and lead walks only, which I did. It doesn't happen on every walk, only if she does more playing than normal. The morning after she is fine and her limp has gone. It's very strange.

Re: Running
I know that glucosamine is good for joints they usually add it to good kibbles so maybe it's worth trying.

Re: Running
Aloe vera gel for Moo - swear by it since finding out she arthritis - a little expensive though - will send you a link if interested. I would be more concerned on finding the route of the problem though x

Re: Running
It was finding this post that made me get round to registering
We had noticed that Oscar had suddenly started carrying one of his back legs after a meeting with another dog.
Oscar is a little short-ass and while we were out for a walk one day we happened upon another dog. This dog was taller than Oscar and as Oscar had went to jump up excitedly at meeting another doggy, the other dog also jumped up and put its weight on Oscar. He wasnt expecting this and it turns out that the dogs weight, when he wasn't expecting it, chipped a piece of bone off his hip.
We got him checked out at the vet and they said that unless it continued to give him a lot of grief, then we could let it pass but continue to monitor this with each visit. He also got some anti-inflam's to ease things down after the incident.
Generally it doesnt bother him much now. I have noticed that if he has been over-doing the running he will hop. Also, if he has been doing a lot of walking on rough pavement/pathways/tarmac this seems to cause it to flare up occasionally.
We will just ground him for a while and keep exercise down to small walks and lots of rest and this does seem to allow things to settle down and for him to get back to 4 paw drive.
